Chapter Seven
Max walked into his private office early that afternoon, hungry and ready to take Annie out for lunch, only to find his woman collapsed in his chair, sobbing. He hurried around his desk, swept her up, and took her place in the chair. Cuddling her close, he held her tight as she continued crying, slowly calming down until she just sniffled and hiccupped.
âWho do I have to hurt?â he asked once she lay completely spent against him.
âThe stupid dumb-heads at the insurance company. Theyâve lost another form for my business claim. Again. And for some reason, the business claim and the personal claim go to separate departments who canât seem to talk to one another or share paperwork, which Iâve had to send three times. Iâve sat on terminal hold twenty minutes each time, just to get runaround from everyone I talk to or referred to someone else,â Annie said, sounding defeated. âIf I could, Iâd go there and punch them, every single one of them, in the stomach.â
Max chuckled at the visual of Annie walking in and punching people. âNo, you wonât do that. I have a better idea. Weâll sic Victor on them.â
âWhatâs a Victor?â
âVictor is my cousin. Heâs an attorney and if anyone can get an insurance company to fall in line, he can. He speaks their language,â Max said as he ran a hand up and down her arm. âBut first we need to order lunch. What would you like to eat?â
He didnât bother to tell her that he had already called Victor and asked him to stop by when he had a chance that day. Victor had agreed to join them for a late lunch and would be arriving soon.
Annie stiffened in his arms as her stomach gave a loud grumble in agreement, but he knew she was going to try to decline. Before she could try to convince him that she was still full from breakfast, he reached down and squeezed one full ass cheek. âNo lying about not being hungry unless you want a spanking. Lying and not taking proper care of yourself are punishable offenses.â
Max bit the inside of his lip to keep from smirking at her when she turned wide eyes up to meet his gaze. âBut I donât have any money to eat out,â she whispered as her eyes grew glossy with tears.
Maxâs heart squeezed when he realized she had probably spent the last of her money the night before giving Spike a good home. âDid I ask you to buy lunch?â he asked, but did not let her answer before he said, âNo, I did not. I asked you what you wanted to eat. Now, what kind of food are you in the mood for?â
Though his tone had been gruff, Annie relaxed. She was a true Little, and he would be taking great pleasure in helping her explore that side of herself. He also planned to spoil her and keep her safe while leading her deeper into an exploration of Daddy/Little girl lifestyle.
